Washington on the mid columbia River near the Tri-Cities.
For the month of April, an estimated 262 steelhead were
caught in the Ringold fishery (Hwy 395 to old Hanford town
site). Of these, 136 were retained. Catch and harvest were
similar to 2007 and well above the catch in 2005-06. For the
season, 2,209 steelhead were caught (1,486 ADRV, 480 AD, 243
wild) and 1,315 steelhead were retained.
WDFW staff interviewed 68 anglers in April, 24% of the
effort. Angler activity in April was similar to March.
Angler hours per fish were low in March and April, similar
to previous seasons. Angers caught 1 steelhead for every 2.7
hours of angling in April. No wild steelhead were reported
in the catch (caught and released) in April.
Very low numbers of steelhead have returned to the RSRF trap
(until recently) in 2007-08 even though harvest has been at
or above normal. No steelhead have been collected and
transported from the Ringold trap this year.
A final Hanford Reach Area Fishing Report will be completed
and sent out for review by May 30, 2008 |
